Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skillet Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces (225g) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces/400g) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the shrimp and Cajun seasoning. Toss until the shrimp is well coated.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage slices and cook until browned.
  3. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, dried thyme, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Add the seasoned shrimp and cooked sausage back into the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley.
  9. Serve the Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skillet hot with rice, pasta, or crusty bread.
