Meatballs and gravy

Gravy (Tomato Sauce):

Diced Tomatoes1 (14-ounce) can
Onion, finely chopped1
Garlic, minced2 cloves
Fresh Basil, chopped1/4 cup
Fresh Oregano, chopped1/4 cup
Salt and PepperTo taste
Olive Oil2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Meatball Mastery:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, eggs, and seasonings. Mix well until everything is incorporated.
    • Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and set them aside.
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the meatballs until golden brown on all sides and cooked through (about 10-12 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. Gravy Galore:
    • If needed, add more olive oil to the same skillet. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic until softened and fragrant.
    • Pour in the crushed and diced tomatoes, then stir in the chopped basil and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the cooked meatballs back to the pan, ensuring they’re covered by the sauce.
    • Simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes, letting the flavors meld and the meatballs absorb the savory tomato sauce
  1. Serve and Savor:
    • Once the meatballs are cooked through and the flavors are combined, serve them hot over your favorite pasta, rice, or crusty bread. Enjoy!
