Chicken Flautas Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa (your choice of mild or spicy)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, guacamole, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, salsa, and shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and mix well.
  3. Place a small portion of the chicken mixture onto the center of each tortilla, then roll it tightly into a cigar shape, securing it with toothpicks if necessary.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully place the flautas seam-side down in the skillet, and cook until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Remove from the skillet and let them drain on a paper towel.
  5. Transfer the flautas to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are crispy and heated through.
  6. Once cooked, remove the toothpicks, and serve the flautas hot with your choice of optional toppings.
