Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish (8×8 or similar size) and set aside. - Make the custard
In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
In a bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth. - Combine and cook
Gradually add the egg mixture to the warm milk, whisking constantly.
Continue to cook on low heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 5–7 minutes). Remove from heat. - Add the chocolate chips
Stir in the chocolate chips until melted and the custard is smooth. - Assemble the dessert
Pour the custard into the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula. - Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden. - Cool and serve
Let the dessert cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. It can also be chilled in the fridge for 1–2 hours for a firmer texture.
