Instructions
Prepare the Potato Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, butter, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and herbs.
Mix until smooth and well combined. Let cool slightly so it’s easier to handle.
Form the Cheese-Stuffed Balls
Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the potato mixture and flatten it in your hand.
Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and gently wrap the potato around it, rolling into a smooth ball.
Repeat with remaining mixture.
Bread the Potato Balls
Set up a breading station:
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
- Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs
Roll each potato ball in flour, dip into egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
Fry Until Golden
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully fry the potato balls in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning gently, until golden brown and crispy
Drain & Serve
Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve hot so the cheese stays perfectly melty.
Additional Notes
- Double breading gives an extra-crispy crust — repeat the egg and breadcrumb step if desired.
- Chill the balls for 10 minutes before frying if they feel too soft.
