Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade, thawed if frozen)
4–6 hot dogs or sausages (optional, for inside)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp milk or water (to mix with egg)
1 tsp black pepper (coarsely ground)
1 tbsp mixed seeds (sesame, poppy, or flax seeds)
1/2 tsp garlic powder or onion flakes (optional, for flavor)
Butter (optional, for brushing after baking)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Prepare Puff Pastry
Lightly flour your surface. Roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out and slightly enlarge.
Add Fillings
Place a sausage or a spoonful of cheese horizontally at one end of the sheet.
Roll the pastry over to cover the filling completely, forming a log.
Seal the edge with a little water or egg wash.
Cut and Arrange
Cut the log into individual rolls (about 4–6 inches long depending on your pastry size).
Place them on the prepared baking tray, seam side down.
Egg Wash and Toppings
Beat the egg with 1 tbsp of milk or water.
Brush the top of each roll with egg wash.
Sprinkle with shredded cheese, black pepper, seeds, and optional seasonings.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
Optional Finishing Touch
Brush with melted butter right after baking for extra richness and shine.
