Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 tbsp ketchup or mustard (classic cheeseburger flavor)
  • Pickle slices (for topping after baking)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.

Step 2: Cook the Beef & Onion

In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion together until beef is browned and onion is soft.
Drain excess grease.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 3: Assemble the Pie

Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly into the prepared pie dish.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the meat.

Step 4: Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth

Step 5: Pour & Bake

Pour the batter evenly over the beef and cheese.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 6: Rest & Serve

Let the pie rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm.

Additional Notes

  • Lean beef keeps the pie from becoming greasy.
  • The batter sinks and rises while baking, creating a soft crust automatically — no rolling required.
  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle additional cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
