Keto Chocolate Custard

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup swerve sweetener
  • 1 3/4 cup unsweetened chocolate (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon extract of vanilla
  • 2 large egg yolk
  • Pinch of salt
  • Lightly sweetened whipped cream (optional)

INGREDIENT NOTES:

ALMOND MILK:

  • I use Almond milk for the keto custard recipe, if you want the recipe to be free from nuts you can add hemp milk as well.

VANILLA EXTRACT:

  • Vanilla extract is used universally. We can also add any other extract like caramel extract.

CHOCOLATE:

Use Lily’s sugar-free chocolate to include in chocolate custard INSTRUCTION:

  1. Put the saucepan on the heat (medium) and add 1/2 cup milk (almond) Bring it to a boil and add 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1/3 cup swerve sweetener in pan and mix it with the whisk until it gets thick consistency.
  2. Dissolve 2 egg yolks in some milk add slowly in the mixture and whisk it to combine.
  3. Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the 1 3/4 ounces of chopped chocolate to the custard and whisk it to make a smooth mixture.
  5. Place the sauce pan on shelf and cool the custard.
  6. When it is cool down add sugar-free chocolate chips in the custard.
  7. Place the serving dish on the counter and line the sugar-free and keto-friendly chocolate chip biscuit in the dish.
  8. Pour the chocolate custard over the biscuit and top it with sugar-free crushed chocolate and Choco chips.

Note:

  • You can eat the chocolate custard simply as well without adding sugar-free and keto-friendly crushed chocolate and chocolate chip cookies.

Fridge:

  • You can store this Keto Chocolate Custard in an air-tight box and store it for 2-3 days.

Freezer:

  • Try not to freeze this chocolate custard; because the custard will become watery and consistency and texture will change.

FAQs:

Can I make this custard-free from dairy?

  • We would use cream of coconut as a substitute for whipped cream and we already make custard with almond milk.

How can I store this custard?

  • This custard can be stocked up in a sealed jar for 2-3 days. Please don’t freeze custard as the consistency does not remain the same.

Is this a low-carb dessert?

  • Yes, this keto chocolate just contains 4.9g of carbs and 2.7g of net carbs in it.

Will I use another sweetener?

I use swerve sweetener for this recipe. You may make it with Boscha Sweet and Allulose. Erythritol-based sweetener and monk fruit will be fine as well.
