Soft Homemade Bread Rolls

Ingredients
- 350 ml lukewarm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 8 grams dry yeast
- 25 ml sunflower oil
- 500 grams all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Activate the yeast
In a large bowl, mix the lukewarm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy and active.
Prepare the dough
Add the sunflower oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour while mixing until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
First rise
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and place it in a warm area. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size. As shown in the image, the dough should look airy, smooth, and well-risen.
Shape the dough
Punch down the dough gently to release air. Divide it into equal portions and shape into smooth balls. Place them into greased oven-safe bowls or ramekins. Sprinkle poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top if desired.
Second rise
Cover again and allow the dough to rise for another 20–30 minutes until puffy and light.
Bake
Preheat your oven to 230°C (446°F). Bake the bread for 30–40 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and glossy.
Cool and serve
Remove from the oven and let the bread cool slightly before removing from the bowls. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
