Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients List

For the Lasagna:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or turkey for a lighter version)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce (or homemade tomato sauce)
  • 1 (9 oz) package frozen cheese ravioli (or fresh ravioli if preferred)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Ground Meat

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Step 2: Add the Aromatics

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is soft and translucent.

Step 3: Add the Sauce and Seasoning

Stir in the marinara sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Layer the Ravioli

Add the frozen (or fresh) ravioli to the skillet, stirring gently to coat the ravioli in the sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the ravioli simmer for about 5 minutes, or until they are heated through and tender.

Step 5: Add the Cheeses

Dollop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese over the ravioli and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly on top. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy

Once the cheese is melted and golden, remove from heat. Let the lasagna sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
