Step 1 – Melt Base

  • In a heatproof bowl, melt butter and chocolate together (microwave in 20-sec intervals or use double boiler). Stir until smooth.

Step 2 – Add Sugar & Eggs

  • Whisk in powdered sugar.
  • Add eggs and egg yolks, whisking until creamy.

Step 3 – Fold in Flour

  • Stir in flour, vanilla, and salt until just combined (don’t overmix).

Step 4 – Fill Cups

  • Grease mugs or oven-safe cups.
  • Fill each halfway, drop in a chocolate chunk (optional), then cover with more batter.

Step 5 – Bake

  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–14 minutes until tops are set but centers are soft.
  • For microwave version: cook 1–1.5 minutes (watch closely).

Step 6 – Serve

  • Let rest for 1 minute, then serve warm.
  • Optional: top with ice cream, whipped cream, or powdered sugar

Additional Notes

  • For extra gooeyness, slightly underbake.
  • Use milk chocolate for a sweeter flavor, or 70% dark for rich intensity.
  • Can be made ahead—just refrigerate batter-filled cups and bake when ready
